A player has reached the end of the world in Crimson Desert, and what happens immediately bring The Truman Show to mind

Crimson Desert features one of the biggest open-worlds to date, but even a world so vast as Pywel has an end. One player managed to reach the end of the world, and what happened immediately brought to mind The Truman Show, the 1998 satirical psychological comedy-drama movie directed by Peter Weir starring Jim Carrey.

As reported on X by TheGameVerse, Reddit user Intelligent-You-7002 reached the farthest reaches of Pywel, but before they could reach what seemed like new land, a giant whale emerged from the sea to eat Kliff, and bring him back within the boundaries of the game world. Interestingly enough, the Blue Whale that eats Kliff is part of the game's codex, as an entry is registered inside the Knowledge menu.

As anyone who has watched The Truman Show couldn't fail to notice, the Blue Whale eating Kliff in Crimson Desert is not too different from every trick used by the show's creator Christof (played by Ed Harris) to prevent Truman from leaving the fictional Seahaven Island, including sudden but very convenient storms.

While evoking the same feelings as the critically acclaimed movie is likely unintentional, it's fascinating to notice the similarities. Similarities that, in conjunction with how Kliff seems to take every revelation about the game's world without flinching and the aesthetics of the loading screens, do make one wonder about Pywel's true nature.

Reaching the end of Pywel is only one of the ways players have been testing the limits of the sandbox action game developed by Pearl Abyss. From exploiting some mechanics to address some of the game's pain points, such as limited stamina and the lack of personal storage only officially addressed with today's 1.00.03 patch, to using some of the skills creatively to defeat the most annoying bosses such as The Crimson Nightmare, it definitely feels like Crimson Desert still has a lot of secrets left to discover in its massive world.
