To the surprise of absolutely nobody with a little bit of recent games industry knowledge, CAPCOM delivered yet another blowout quarter driven by a strong new IP launch and record catalog sales:
- Net sales hit ¥70.41 billion ($430.1 million), up 54.7% year-on-year, while operating profit jumped 66.9% to ¥41.05 billion ($250.7 million).
- Profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 69.2% to ¥29.16 billion ($178.1 million), and the full-year forecast remains unchanged at ¥210 billion ($1.28 billion) in net sales and ¥83 billion ($507 million) in operating profit.
- Sales of catalog games reached 21.26 million units, vastly exceeding the 13.36 million units recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
- Digital Contents unit sales nearly doubled to 23.81 million, versus 14.16 million in the same quarter last year.
The Japanese publisher singles out a few games that helped achieve this outstanding financial result. The press release actually starts with PRAGMATA, as the game surpassed the 2.5 million-unit milestone, which is rather significant for a brand-new intellectual property.
Of course, the publisher's best-selling game of 2026 is actually Resident Evil Requiem, which has now blazed through 8 million cumulative units sold (boosted by active pricing promotions), while Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2 continued driving catalog revenue for CAPCOM.
The publisher also mentions that Devil May Cry 5 has now surpassed 14 million units sold since its launch in 2019, thanks to a mix of initiatives: the launch on Nintendo Switch 2, timed discounts, and the second season of the animated show available on Netflix.
CAPCOM stayed rather vague on Monster Hunter sales, though:
Unit sales of past titles in the Monster Hunter series also increased after the Company announced a 2027 release window for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a massive expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, which is a major title in the same flagship series that was released in 2025.
With Onimusha: Way of the Sword set to launch in just over one month, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen due in October, and two big 2027 releases (the aforementioned Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance and, of course, Resident Evil Veronica), CAPCOM is poised to continue its killer streak.
