For some time now Battlefield V players have been waiting for news on private server rentals, which would allow for things like custom game settings, map rotations, and private player lists. Past Battlefield games have allowed for private servers, but EA and DICE have been noncommittal about adding them to the latest game in the series.

Well, this afternoon DICE finally confirmed that rented servers, which are being rebranded as “Private Games,” are coming this summer. Even better, access to base level Private Game options will be free. Players will be able to start a Private Game directly from Battlefield V’s main menu, and the server remains online as long as you continue playing. Quit, and it goes away, but your configs are saved.
