Eager to jump right into Baldur’s Gate III the second it launches on Thursday? Well, unfortunately, you may have to wait a while depending on the speed of your internet. According to one last pre-launch community update from developer Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate III will weigh in at a very meaty 122 GB. Not quite as bad as the 150 GB listed on Steam (which was never the real download size of the game) but still, a pretty decent chunk of storage space. Unfortunately, Larian has also clarified that players won’t be able to pre-load the game. If you’ve got fibre internet, not a huge problem. If you’re still on a slower connection, you’ll have to be patient for a few hours.

Larian has also reiterated that your Early Access save files won’t carry over to the full version of the game. According to them, Act 1 has changed significantly in the final version of the game – enough so, that you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you didn’t start fresh.

Here's when you can start getting those big Baldur’s Gate III downloads going. Those living on the US West Coast can start as early as 8am on August 3. Meanwhile, Aussies and New Zealanders don’t get to play until early in the morning on August 4.

As a reminder, here are the Baldur’s Gate III system requirements…

Baldur’s Gate III launches on PC on August 3 and on PS5 on September 6. The Xbox Series X/S version has been held up by difficulties getting splitscreen co-op working on Series S, and probably won’t arrive until 2024.
