Delay announcements have become an all-to-common in recent years, but Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has pulled off something unique – the simultaneous delay/reverse-day announcement. It turns out Baldur’s Gate 3 will be coming out on PC nearly a month earlier than anticipated, but the PS5 version will be arriving around a week later.

According to Larian, the slight delay of the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be for optimization, as they’re aiming for a 60fps experience, which they’re near to reaching. As for why the PC version is coming out early, well, I’m guessing the early-September release of Starfield may have something to do with it.

In addition to the shifting release dates, Larian also revealed some fresh Baldur’s Gate 3 details in new community post. While they previously said the game will have a level 10 cap, with the full release, level 12 will be the new cap. Meanwhile, two new races, the Dragonborn and Half-Orcs have been revealed. This brings the total number of races in BG3 to 11, with 31 subraces. Here’s a handy graphic showing off all the races in Baldur’s Gate 3…

Larian also revealed the new Monk class. This brings the total number of classes to 12 and subclasses to 46. Here’s a rundown of all the classes.

Baldur’s Gate 3 launches on PC (including Mac) on August 3 and PS5 on September 6. An Xbox Series X/S version is in the works, but it’s currently without a release date. Here's Larian's explanation for the lack of Xbox at launch.
