Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive role-playing game filled with content, but it could have been a much bigger game, judging from the amount of content cut ahead of release.

Reddit user Vasgorath put together a list of content that was cut based on interviews with the development team and various data mining findings. Among the stuff that was cut from the game are entire zones, such as The Upper City, small romance options with Jaheira, full epilogue cutscenes, plenty of companion dialogues in Act 3, Crafting and Exhaustion mechanics, a proper ending for Karlach and a lot more. The full list, which can be found here, is full of spoilers for the entire game, so read at your own risk.

As Larian Studios isn't yet done with Baldur's Gate 3, there's a good chance much of this cut content will eventually be implemented, possibly with a Definitive or Enhanced Edition. Even without it, however, the third entry in the series is a great RPG, one of the best released recently, as I highlighted in my review.

With its engaging story, charming characters, extremely dynamic world that constantly reacts and adapts to the player's actions and choice and a solid tactical combat system, Baldur's Gate 3 is among the best cRPGs ever released. A wonky interface, the lack of some quality-of-life features and Larian Studios' trademark save scumming design impact the experience, but they're only minor issues that don't away too much from the whole experience. After years in development, Baldur's Gate 3 definitely exceeded all expectations, and in the best possible way.

Baldur's Gate 3 is now available on PC. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 on September 6th.
