ASUS Is Out With Its Latest AMD AGESA 1.2.0.3 BIOS Which Promises Better Performance on AMD Ryzen CPUs Running On Its X870 & X670 Motherboards
It's been a while since we saw a new BIOS release on the AMD front, but it looks like the first update is being rolled out by none other than ASUS. The previous AGESA 1.2.0.2 releases came with lots of patches and this time, we are moving to a newer version called the AGESA 1.2.0.3. ASUS is the first motherboard manufacturer to release this new BIOS, albeit in a BETA state.
The BIOS is being rolled out to a host of ASUS motherboards, mainly the higher-end X870E & X670E series, which include the ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, and ProArt series. The full list of motherboards can be seen below:
- ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO BETA BIOS 1001

- ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME BETA BIOS 2702
ROG STRIX X670E-A GAMING WIFI BETA BIOS 2702 - ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI BETA BIOS 2702
- ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI BETA BIOS 2702
- PROART X670E CREATOR WIFI BETA BIOS 2702
The changes offered by the BIOS update include an update to the ComboAM5 1203 (AGESA 1.2.0.3) version and an improvement in system performance. These are vague terms and don't tell much, but we suspect that this launch coincides with the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 9000X3D CPUs which will be launching in March. We will likely see another patch version before the release but users who want to gain that extra bit of performance from their AMD Ryzen CPU platforms can try out the new BIOS right now.
