The first-ever 24.5" OLED gaming monitor to use an OLED panel from LG, which smashes previous expectations that the model will utilize a BOE OLED panel.

ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace to Use LG Tandem OLED Panel, Offering 540 Hz Refresh Rate at 1080p Resolution

Despite reports from last year indicating that Samsung would be the first one to bring a 25" OLED panel to the consumer market, the first-ever 25" OLED monitor we got from ASUS uses an OLED panel from LG Display. If you remember, at Computex, ASUS unveiled its ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace display, which is the world's first-ever 24.5" OLED monitor for eSports gaming.

Typically, standard OLED monitors do not come in any smaller form factor than 27", which is why monitor makers prefer to make high-end QHD/4K OLED panels for the high-end segment. 24 or 25" OLED monitors are non-existent in the market, especially the 1080p ones, but this was the last year for such a trend. With ASUS's debut of the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, enthusiasts will be able to game on a smaller OLED display that boasts 1080p resolution.

However, unlike what we previously thought, the ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace won't use an OLED panel from BOE, but from LG. This is a major development, considering LG Display will now be going against Samsung Display when it comes to smaller form-factor OLED displays. Samsung is still the king in supplying the most OLED panels and has aimed for over 4 million units this year, but LG is also expecting to reach 1.5 million panels.

BOE remains a major Chinese player in the OLED market, but ASUS went with LG Display's Tandem WOLED panel for its latest high-refresh-rate OLED offering that is already targeting the masses. The ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace boasts 1080p resolution and can run at up to a 540 Hz refresh rate with just 0.02 ms of response time. This makes it a wonderful choice for eSports gaming, for which enthusiasts had to settle with 1440p 27-inch monitors till now.

That said, ASUS is yet to disclose the information on pricing and availability for its 24.5" OLED monitor.
