ASUS's newest ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 variant has managed to squeeze the GPU into a compact design without compromising on anything.

ASUS's ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 Features Just a 2.5-Slot Design, With a Double-Vented Backplate Like the FE Model

NVIDIA's flagship GPU variants have become 'chunkier' in size when you compare them across generations, and even within the RTX 5090 segment, we have seen models like the ROG Matrix, which shows us how massive GPUs have become over the years. However, with ASUS's ProArt variant, unveiled at this year's CES, the manufacturer introduced one of the smallest variants out there, coming in with just a 2.5-slot design, and if you think that such a configuration is targeted towards gamers, well, there is a catch here, which we'll discuss ahead.

With such a design, cooling is a significant concern, especially given the power draw of the GeForce RTX 5090; however, the ASUS ProArt has introduced a new cooling solution that resembles NVIDIA's Founders Edition implementation. The GPU features a liquid metal thermal compound on the GPU die, with a vapor chamber mounted that allows for even heat distribution. Interestingly, the ProArt model features a "double-vented backplate", which we have seen with the FE designs, which features cooling zones at both ends of the GPUs.

Combined with its other cooling innovations, the ProArt GeForce RTX 5090’s double flow-through design offers approximately 11% better cooling efficiency and 27% smaller size, compared to single flow-through designs. For creators who need top-tier GPU performance in a compact design, there’s no better choice.

ASUS states that the ProArt's design is targeted at multi-GPU workstations, as a smaller slot design allows for the mounting of multiple variants on a single PC, catering to professional and AI workloads. One of the more interesting elements of the ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 is its minimalist design, which features wooden elements carved into the chassis, making the variant ideal for simple, all-black builds. The GPU is also SFF-compliant, making the variant suitable for versatile builds.

ASUS hasn't revealed the pricing and availability of the ProArt GeForce RTX 5090 yet, but it is undoubtedly one of the standout models on the market.
