Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is days away from launch at the time of this writing, and ahead of its arrival Ubisoft has just showcased what PS5 Pro players can expect when they load up this reimagined and remade seventh-gen adventure.
A new trailer and PlayStation Blog post outline features that Black Flag Resynced will support, including ray-traced global illumination, ray-traced specular reflections and PlayStation's recently released and improved upscaling technology, PSSR 2.0.
"We rebuilt the game from the ground up on the latest version of the Anvil engine," Ubisoft writes in the post, "modernizing nearly every system while preserving the spirit and the identity of the original game. The result is an experience tailored for modern PlayStation hardware, with 60 FPS options, HDR support, Dolby Atmos, DualSense haptic feedback, and plenty of other improvements."
Ubisoft also shared what the different graphic modes on base PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles will be targeting. Whichever PlayStation console you have, you'll have an option between Performance, Fidelity, and Balanced graphic modes.
Each mode will run at an upscaled 4K, though players on PS5 Pro will be able to enjoy the benefits afforded by PSSR 2.0. The only figure that changes is the FPS target, with Performance mode targeting 60 FPS, Fidelity targeting 30 FPS, and Balanced targeting 40 FPS. Exactly what we've come to expect from most games with multiple graphic options on consoles.
The one difference as shown in Ubisoft's performance chart above, is that PS5 Pro players will enjoy better implementation of Black Flag Resynced's ray-tracing features compared to what those on a base PS5 console experience. That's not surprising, of course, though it speaks to how Ubisoft has attempted to create some parity for players who perhaps don't have the $899.99 USD required to add a PS5 Pro to their home unit.
"When rebuilding Assassin’s Creed Black Flag on the latest version of Anvil, our goal wasn’t only to modernize technology. We wanted to strengthen the sense of immersion, adventure, and discovery that made Edward Kenway’s journey so memorable in the first place. PlayStation 5 hardware has given us the opportunity to push that experience further than ever before, from the way the world looks and sounds, to how it feels."
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC this coming July 9, 2026.
