ASRock is introducing several new motherboards at Computex in the AMD AM5 family with the X870E Taichi OCF taking the spotlight at their booth.
ASRock Brings Taichi OCF To AMD AM5 Ecosystem With X870E Taichi OCF, Packs 25 VRM Design With 110A SPS Stages & Extreme DDR5 Overclocking Support
ASRock's Taichi OCF series are some of the fastest and most beloved motherboards for overclocking. These boards have so far only been available on Intel platforms, but this year, ASRock is rolling out its first AM5 Taichi OCF design with some awesome specs.
Starting with the details, the ASRock X870E Taichi OCF packs a 25-Phase design with 110A SPS power stages. The CPU is powered by a dual 8-pin connector configuration and there are two DDR5 DIMM slots next to the socket which support up to 128 GB DRAM capacity and speeds of over 9000 MT/s.
I/O on the motherboard includes two PCIe 5.0 x16 and 1 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots, while M.2 options include 2 PCIe Gen5x4, 2 PCIe Gen4x4, a PCIe Gen4x2, and a PCIe Gen 3x4 slot. There are a lot of SSD storage options available on this motherboard. USB support includes two USB4 Type-C, 2 USB 3.2 Gen2x2 (36W PD), 1 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C, 7 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, and 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports. There's also 5 GbE LAN, WIFI7 and several EZ release features along with a bundled professional overclocking toolkit.
In terms of design, the motherboard comes with the Taichi OCF series-specific gold and black color palette and looks really great. The overclocking and tuning buttons/switches are seen next to the DIMM slots and are great for those who want to push this motherboard to its limits.
Next up, we have the ASRock X870 Taichi Creator which gives content creators a nice AM5 option with a powerful design that packs a 21 Phase 80A SPS design, four DDR5 DIMM slots with up to 256 GB capacity support, 3 M.2 slots which include 2 Gen5x4, a single Gen4x4 and Gen3x4 along with a total of 15 USB ports which include 2 USB4 Type-C connectors. The motherboard also comes with 36W PD through a single USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C port. You get the latest connectivity, such as 10 GbE+5GbE LAN, WIFI7, two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, and a single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot.
Last but not least, AMD rounds up its X870 lineup with the X870 NOVA WIFI. This is essentially the same design as the X870E NOVA WIFI, which we had reviewed earlier. The motherboard is going to be priced even lower than the X870E NOVA WIFI, making it a compelling mainstream option for mainstream builders with lots of features and a very good IO/VRM spec. We can expect the price of this variant to be between $250-$300 US.
Another interesting AMD AM5 product from ASRock outside its 800-series lineup is the A620AI WIFI, which is an entry-level Mini-ITX design with an 11-phase 80A VRM layout, dual DDR5 DIMM slots, which are rated at up to 8200+ MT/s speeds, and is powered by an 8-pin connector. The board features a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, a PCIe Gen4x4 and Gen3x4 M.2 slot, 7 USB slots including 3 USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-A + Type-C), a 2.5GbE and 1 GbE LAN port, Wi-Fi 6E, and ALC897 Audio codec. The motherboard is set to be priced around $100 US, so expect more info in the coming months.
