The new device can manage the load distribution to protect the 16-pin power connector, which is prone to melting.
Aqua Computer Launches Ampinel at 100 Euros, Aimed to Mitigate the Notorious 16-pin GPU Power Connector Melting
We now have a couple of devices to mitigate the connector melting issues on the GPUs, equipped with 16-pin power connectors. The latest one is called "Ampinel", launched by Aqua Computer, which was originally planned for a November 2025 launch. After some delay, the company has finally launched the device that aims to protect the 16-pin power connector (12V-2x6) from melting.

Aqua Computer says the delay was caused by a significantly expanded feature set and due to additional development effort, the price has been increased by 20 Euros. So, its price is now 100 Euros instead of 80 Euros as was initially planned. The Ampinel is positioned against devices such as WireView Pro II, which remains one of the best solutions to protect GPUs from 16-pin connector melting. While the Ampinel lacks real-time monitoring, it can provide "Load Balancing" to distribute the current across all pins to reduce the risk of overheating.

We have seen GPUs drawing significantly higher current through some pins due to improper contact, which is one of the most common causes of overheating and melting. So, Ampinel appears to be a viable solution for high-end NVIDIA RTX GPUs such as the RTX 5090, 4090, and even weaker GPUs with the 12V-2x6 connectors. Moreover, the Ampinel also comes with its own optional software that helps in monitoring and customization.

Currently, the device is available in two versions: Type A and Type B, according to the connector orientation on the graphics card. One thing to keep in mind is that the Aqua Computer Ampinel doesn't ship with extended GPU warranty coverage, unlike WireView Pro II.
