The Middle East has gone up in proverbial flames amid the drumbeat of regional war, and in the ensuing geopolitical chaos, Apple Stores have shut down in the UAE, at least through the early part of the coming week.

Apple stores to remain shut in the UAE at least through March 03

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has asked all private establishments to take "necessary measures to avoid the presence of workers in open areas," including switching to a remote work schedule. The advisory is currently valid until Tuesday, March 03.

In compliance with this advisory, Apple stores in the UAE, including three in Abu Dhabi and two in Dubai, have shut down. Do note that the Apple store located within the Dubai Mall in the vicinity of the iconic Burj Khalifa now displays the sign: "closed until further notice."

Meanwhile, after a fire erupted at the berths of Dubai's mammoth Jebel Ali port from the debris of a drone, the port has now been shut down, as has global shipping via the critical Strait of Hormuz.

For Apple, this geopolitical upheaval could not have come at a worse time. As we reported earlier today, the Cupertino giant is gearing up to unveil a slew of new products, including the much-anticipated low-cost MacBook, from Monday through Wednesday, culminating in the hands-on 'Apple Experience' event on March 04.
