Apple Reaches Another Milestone With Its ‘Bread and Butter’ Product, the iPhone: Over 1.2 Billion Devices Sold Now
During its third quarter earnings call, Apple revealed a wide range of statistics related to the number of products it sold in this particular earnings call. The Cupertino tech giant revealed that it had sold over 41 million iPhones, and while that is impressive, it is nothing compared to the statistic that the company’s CEO, Tim Cook reveals later on. Last year, Apple detailed that it had sold over a billion iPhones and the company is back with yet another milestone, which is selling over 1.2 billion units.
Apple Has Managed to Achieve This Feat in Just a Decade – No Other Company Comes Close to the Number of Units the Giant Has Sold
During the third quarter earnings call, Tim Cook stated that following regarding iPhone sales, and also decided to provide a little more information concerning the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
“iPhone results were impressive, with especially strong demand at the high end of our lineup. iPhone 7 was our most popular iPhone and sales of iPhone 7 Plus were up dramatically compared to 6s Plus in the June quarter last year. The combined iPhone 7 and 7 Plus family was up strong double digits year over year. One decade after the initial iPhone launch we have now surpassed 1.2 billion cumulative iPhones sold.”
With 2017 being the year of the bezel-less smartphone, Apple is more than certain to release a device that will have an edge-to-edge glass and internals that are expected to put the competition to shame. Most importantly, the tech giant is finally going to transition away from the old smartphone design that it has been using for the longest period.
In addition, the iPhone 8 will be the first phone from the manufacturer to get incorporated with an OLED panel, which will result in its own exclusive advantages. However, several analysts claim that the iPhone 8 could be the most expensive iPhone to be sold, but others say that it could become the model that surpasses previously held sales record held by previous-gen versions.
