iOS 11.3 IPSW Update Has Been Released – for the New iPad 6 Only

Apple announced its brand new iPad 6 tablet yesterday and you can already download the iOS 11.3 IPSW firmware file for it today. Keep in mind that the tablet is set to go on sale later this week and you can already place your order right now from Apple’s website.

Before you go ahead with the download, please be aware of a few things. First and foremost, the iPad 6 ships with iOS 11.3 out of the box which means that the IPSW file is only necessary if you are planning to do a clean restore of the tablet. Also, in order to do a clean restore, you will require iTunes along with a Lightning cable to interface your iPad with your PC or Mac.

iOS 11.3 is a pretty big update and packs a lot of new changes under the hood. Probably the biggest change is the addition of the new Battery Health feature that lets you disable throttling measures put in place by Apple if your device has a bad battery unit inside. Furthermore, Apple has thrown in new Animoji for iPhone X users into the mix as well. Needless to say that the update is packed to the rafters with a lot of new things that users are going to love.

You can download the iOS 11.3 IPSW file by clicking on the links below. Remember though, the iPad 6 will ship with iOS 11.3 out of the box and the firmware file is only necessary to have if you are planning to do a clean restore of the software for whatever reason, as mentioned above already.

The iPad 6 is a nice little update over last year’s model and brings quite a bit of new features to the roster. This includes Apple Pencil support, a faster processor and a battery camera ISP that allows superior augmented reality performance over its predecessor. All of this can be had for a price of just $329, same as last year. Is it worth upgrading to? Well, depends on your use-case. If you are looking to buy an Apple Pencil then this is the cheapest tablet in Apple’s portfolio with support for it. Things working nicely already on your current tablet? Then you definitely do not want to upgrade.
