Apple seeded its ioS 11.2 firmware not so long ago that featured various forward facing additions as well as under the hood improvements. In addition to this, the update also addressed a serious date bug that was affecting some users on December 2. Moreover, even though Apple has already introduced the Apple Pay Cash, the feature was not yet activated and was not available to the general public. Now, with iOS 11.2, Apple Pay Cash is now live for iOS 11.2 users. So let’s dive in to see some more details on the matter.

Apple Pay Cash Is Now Available For All iPhone And iPads Running iOS 11.2

Apple Pay Cash was not usable because the company had not yet activated it. Apple Pay Cash is now officially available in the United States and available for all iPhone and iPad owners running iOS 11.2 on their devices. If you’re an iPhone user and have updated to iOS 11.2 but not seeing the Apple Pay Cash feature, do not be alarmed, it will take a bit of time before the company rolls it out to everyone.

So what is Apple Pay Cash? It is Apple’s solution for peer to peer cash payments. The feature basically allows an individual to send and receive money with their iPhone. If you’re not familiar with it, it resembles Square Cash or Venmo. At this point in time, the feature is available only in the United States. However, in the near future, Apple will roll it out to other regions as well. There is no official word as of when the company will expand the feature, but we will see it soon.

So how does Apple Pay Cash work? The operation is quite simple on the outside as you send and receive money through iMessage conversations using the Messages app on the iPhone or iPad. The cash is sent using a linked credit or debit card. However, on the receiving end, your payments will be stored in the Apple Pay Cash card in the Wallet app. The payments can then be used for purchases as well as sent to the bank.

Apple Pay Cash will also be available on the watchOS 4.2 update once it hits the Apple Watch. We expect the update to arrive sometime this week. There was a handful of new features available in the iOS 11.2 update as well, so be sure to check them out as well.
