The most affordable notebook has been added to Apple’s lineup today, and it is called the MacBook Neo. After years of rumors, the Cupertino firm is coming to chip away at the market share of its competitors with a highly affordable offering that comes in four attractive paint jobs and is fueled by the previous-generation A18 Pro chipset. Here are more details you'll love to check out.
The $599 price of the MacBook Neo is expected to undercut the competition
The affordable portable Mac sports a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2,408 x 1,506 resolution and 500 nits brightness. Apple is taking an interesting approach with the MacBook Neo because the front side doesn’t sport a notch or any other cutout. Instead, the company relies on uniform bezels like the ones seen on the iPad, giving it a more futuristic look. The base storage is 256GB, priced at $599, making it one heck of a deal, but you can also purchase the 512GB variant.

Apple’s pricing is going to become even more attractive since the MacBook Neo will likely be targeted to students, and luckily for them, they can grab each unit for $499. There’s also a 1080p front-facing camera, with the battery life being one of the top selling points of this machine, lasting for up to 16 hours on a single charge. For biometrics, Apple has added Touch ID, with dual-firing speakers that support Spatial Audio.

For connectivity, the MacBook Neo is equipped with two USB-C ports that most likely don’t support the Thunderbolt protocol, as Apple mentions that data transfer speeds are limited to 10Gb/s. Thankfully, the company didn’t remove the 3.5mm audio jack. As for the colors, the MacBook Neo will be available in Silver, Indigo, Blush, and Citrus finishes, with Apple opening up pre-orders today. The official release will happen on March 11, which is a Wednesday.
