Apple Announced More Live Sports Providers Are Making Their Way To TV App


Apple announced yesterday that people in the United States can make use of their TV app this week for iPhone, iPad and the Apple TV to keep track of their favorite teams. In addition to this, the news will be tracked in real time, which is definitely a plus if you follow sports regularly. The company notes that “The TV app is a unified destination for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV users to discover and start watching their favorite shows, movies, and now, sports." The apps were developed in collaboration with NBA and Turner Sports and more will be added in the near future. However, no specific dates have been stated so far. Moreover, starting tomorrow, Amazon Prime subscribers in the United States can enjoy "Thursday Night Football" on the TV app for iPhone, iPad and the Apple TV.

The participating launch providers constitute of ESPN and NBA. However, do take note that you should be running Apple's latest iOS 11.2 firmware on your iOS devices and tvOS 11.2 for the Apple TV in order to take advantage of the live news feature. At this point in time, the news section is only limited to users residing in the United States. Meanwhile, the TV app is available across five countries which includes the United States, Australia, Canada, Norway, and Sweden.

With that said, if you're someone living in the U.S, you can now follow your favorite team in the TV app. The feature will basically show all of the live shows in your Up Next queue and will appear at the top. Furthermore, you also have the option available to allow the app to notify you when a game is about to begin and much more.

A dedicated Sports tab at the bottom portion of the application allows you to see the teams, sporting events being played currently and leagues. There are also options available for the current score and the remaining time. The feature will basically make it easier for fans in the United States to keep track of their favorite teams, games and other moments which are important to them.
