AMD's mid-range RX 9060 GPUs are expected to go live somewhere in the second quarter of this year and are expected to compete with NVIDIA's 60-class RTX Blackwell GPUs.
AMD's Mid-Range RX 9060 GPUs To Tackle NVIDIA's RTX 5060/RTX 5060 Ti; Expected To Be Within Sub-$400 Price Segment
Team Red's first batch of RDNA 4 GPUs, the RX 9070 series, did come out in style, offering tremendous price-to-performance value. The flagship Radeon RX 9070 XT, launched at $599, is said to compete with NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti, which means that the GPU is targeted towards the mid-to-high-end consumer segment. But for those who are on a tight budget, AMD doesn't offer many options at the moment. However, with the RX 9060 series, things look to change, as initial details of the lineup have now been revealed.
AMD China has confirmed (via MyDrivers) that the Radeon RX 9060 GPUs are expected to launch by Q2 2025, which means they'll directly target NVIDIA's upcoming 60-class GPUs. While details surrounding the lineup are confined for now, the RX 9060 series is expected to employ Navi 44, a budget-oriented GPU silicon, with a VRAM count of around 8 GB, depending upon how AMD decides to position these models.
With the RX 9070 release, Team Red essentially diverted the focus of mainstream GPU consumers towards itself, which means that NVIDIA will have a tough time marketing its upcoming launches unless it decides to do something unexpected. With the RX 9060 series, we expected AMD to target the $400-$500 price segment since that is a sweet spot for budget gamers and will definitely help compete with the GeForce RTX 5060 and its "Ti" counterpart.
Given that AMD employs a strategy similar to what it did with the RX 9070 series, we expect the RX 9060 to debut somewhere in April, after the launch of NVIDIA's 60-class GPUs. However, for now, nothing is officially confirmed, but things are turning out interestingly for the GPU segment.
