Here is a glimpse of what the Radeon RX 9070 XT Reference design looks like, as spotted on a Chinese forum.

The Reference Design for the RX 9070 XT Does Exist; Card Goes for Sale for MSRP

A while back, even before AMD revealed the first RDNA 4 cards, aka RX 9070 series, at CES, an AMD-rendered image revealed the reference card design of the Radeon RX 9070 XT. Earlier reports indicated that AMD won't be producing the reference cards at all, and we did see only AIB editions launching in the market.

However, AMD did make some as one of the first such cards appeared on the Chiphell forum (via @harukaze5719). The card was apparently sold by a Chinese resident on the forum and the images clearly revealed the exact reference design we saw previously. Even though some reports claim that it is an OEM card, the design is almost unaltered. The pic shows a three-fan cooling solution with a black shroud that looks pretty much the same as we saw in the original render.

There are some slight differences though, including the design of the shroud around the middle fan. As seen in the rendered image, the shroud seems to be ventilated, revealing the fins underneath. In the leaked picture, the shroud completely covers the fins around the middle fan. The other difference is the location of the Radeon logo, which appears to be around the fan near the I/O, while in the leaked pic, it's near the middle fan.

All in all, the design looks more like the reference Radeon RX 7900 XTX, and in case you are in doubt, then the user @unikoshardware posted some more pics of the card alongside its box, which confirmed that it is indeed the Radeon RX 9070 XT. The card features Gen 5.0 gold fingers, which you won't find on the RX 7000 cards.

The user was selling it for US$599, which is the MSRP at which the RX 9070 XT was launched. Some AIB base editions were also launched at a $599 price tag, but most OC and premium models carry a higher price tag. It's not yet known why AMD didn't produce reference designs for sale, but it's reported to be one of the cost-cutting measures. Still, it did make some, as we can see here, but how many such units exist, we don't know.
