AMD's Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs in China are expected to see a wider availability by February, with AIB partners jumping into the supply chain by March, three months after launch.
AMD's RX 9070 GPUs Will Have Their Reference Models In The Markets By February, Around The Chinese New Year Season
Well, Chinese customers looking to get their hands on Team Red's upcoming RDNA 4 GPUs may need to wait quite a bit after the official launch in January since, according to Board Channels, AMD's plans for China may be a bit different compared to global markets. The source quotes "AMD's internal department," claiming that AMD's RX 9070 SKUs may not be shipped to the Chinese markets in January, and the earliest regional consumers can expect to get their hands on the GPUs is by February, after the Chinese New Year.
An interesting point to note here is that AMD's reference GPUs will most likely be available by February, and in terms of other models, well, their presence in the markets could extend up to March, which means that Chinese consumers will have to wait for around three months if they intend to get their hands on a custom model. Such a type of launch is instead a business move by AMD, given that with this, the reference edition manages to get higher sales traction from the start.
The critical point is that this availability schedule will most likely not apply to the US and other markets since AMD tends to switch up things with Chinese markets. Given that there's higher consumer anticipation around the Chinese New Year, Team Red is most likely targeting an inventory sell-off in the beginning for its reference models, and once custom GPUs hit the markets, AMD won't have much trouble clearing out its MBA models.
AMD's Radeon RX 9070 GPUs are set for showcase at the CES 2025 keynote, which starts on January 7 and will likely feature several other releases by the firm.
