AMD's Navi 32 GPU, the third chip in the current RDNA 3 family, has been pictured during a recent video published by Forbes where the outlet interviews AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su.

AMD Navi 32 "RDNA 2" MCM GPU Smiles For The Camera, Four MCDs With Up To 64 MB Infinity Cache

The AMD Navi 32 GPU is one of the three RDNA 3 chips that will be featured on the Radeon RX and Radeon Pro family of graphics cards. It is also one of the two GPUs that features a chiplet design & the other one is the flagship Navi 31 "RDNA 3" GPU which has already been out in the market for a while now.

In terms of design, the AMD Navi 32 GPU features the same RDNA 3 graphics architecture that has been adopted by the Navi 31 and Navi 33 GPUs. So far, AMD hasn't announced any GPUs that use the new chip but there are reports that the Radeon RX 7700 and RX 7800 series will utilize the chip in different SKU variations. The AMD Navi 32 GPU will also be powering the high-end laptop GPUs.

The Navi 32 chiplet design features the GCD in the center which should measure around 200mm2 while each of the four MCDs measures 37.5mm2 so that should round up to around 350mm2. For comparison, the Navi 31 GCD measures 304.35mm2, and the whole chip with MCDs included has an area of 529.34mm2. So you are looking at a -34% smaller die size for the Navi 32 GPU.

AMD Navi 32 "Wheat Nas" GPU Configuration

The AMD Navi 32 GPU codenamed "Wheat Nas" is also one of the two MCM GPUs featured in the RDNA 3 lineup. The GPU will feature a single GCD (Graphics Compute Dies) and four MCDs (Multi-Cache Die). The GPU or GCD is said to measure 200mm2 while each MCD will retain the same size at 37.5mm2.

  • AMD Navi 32: 3840 Cores, 256-bit Bus, 64 MB Infinity Cache, 200mm2 GPU Die @5nm
  • AMD Navi 22: 2560 Cores, 192-bit Bus, 96 MB Infinity Cache, 335mm2 GPU Die @7nm

The GCD will be equipped with 3 Shader Engines and each Shader Engine has 6 Shader Arrays. The GPU will feature a total of 30 WGP or 60 Compute Units for a total of 3840 cores. Each MCD should also feature 2 memory connect links (32-bit). That's a total of 8 32-bit memory controllers for a 256-bit bus interface. You are looking at the same 16 MB of Infinity cache per MCD so that's 64 MB total Infinity Cache.
