Two more regions are now getting the Radeon RX 9070 GRE inventory just after two months of the GPUs launch.
ASRock Prepares RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend; Felton Distribution Announces Availability in Hong Kong
Usually, we see the Radeon GRE graphics cards being launched exclusively for China, eventually finding their way into different regions worldwide. However, it takes time and as per the history of GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition) cards, we generally see them appearing around one year after their launch in mainland China. This time, it appears that the Radeon RX 9070 GRE is getting its way into other regions much quicker than the previous-gen GRE editions.
The Radeon RX 9070 GRE, which AMD specifically launched in China two months ago, is now coming to Taiwan. It's expected that the Sapphire edition will be the first to see a retail launch in the region but it's not alone. Hong Kong is yet another region, which is now getting the GRE GPUs much quicker than it used to previously. Despite being a part of China, Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) with its own legal, economic, and trade systems under the "one country, two systems" framework having different export rules and policies. Therefore, the GPU launches may not exactly coincide with other Chinese provinces.
Felton Distribution, which is a big computer store in Hong Kong has announced that it is bringing the ASRock Radeon RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark 12GB OC edition for the residents soon. You won't find easily find the product page on the ASRock website, but it's live in the Taiwanese subdomain. Apart from ASUS and Sapphire, ASRock is the third manufacturer to produce an RX 9070 GRE GPU. This particular edition features 2920 MHz of boost clock, which is 130 MHz higher than the reference edition.
The RX 9070 GRE SL Dark edition brings a triple fan design and has dual 8-pin PCIe connectors. The GPU has 3072 Stream Processors and brings 12 GB GDDR6 memory. It fills the gap between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 and is roughly on par with the GeForce RTX 5070. Now as far as its launch in other parts is concerned, we speculate that the GPU could soon enter more regions but it could still take months.
Nonetheless, for a price tag of sub-$500, the GPU could be excellent for the mid-range market despite having lower VRAM than the RX 9060 XT 16 GB and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, as it is already much faster than those cards. At 1440p resolution, 12 GB is going to be sufficient for most titles but if you are looking for a more future-proof option, you should probably look forward to something like an RX 9070 XT, for which you have to pay much more.
