Remember the time when Facebook wanted to acquire Snapchat and was turned down? The social networking giant had acquired WhatsApp a while back, which has brought about a major update and will attempt to beat Snapchat at its own game. Here are the new features that have been added.

‘Drawing on Images’ Has Been Introduced by WhatsApp and It Will Allow Users to Edit Their Images by Drawing Items on Them

According to the details posted on the WhatsApp blog, the new camera features include writing or drawing on photos and videos, as well as adding emoji to express yourself. The blog post explains that when you capture a new photo or video or share one that’s already on your phone, you’ll automatically see the new editing tools. Using these editing tools, you’ll be able to express your own emotions to the person who you’re about to send the image too and aside from that, you can add text, as well as change font color and style.

Additionally, the blog also states that the WhatsApp camera feature now supports the front-facing flash so you are able to snap the perfect selfie. In low-light and during the night, the feature will help to brighten the screen so that you are able to improve the quality of your photo. Not only this, WhatsApp has also added a zooming feature for recording videos. All you have to do is to slide your finger up and down to zoom in and out. If you want to quickly switch between front and rear-facing cameras, double tap on the screen.

These new features will be releasing for Android devices, but that doesn’t mean iOS users are going to be kept out of the loop. The blog post details that new features are also going to be ported to Apple’s mobile OS but didn’t specify an exact date, unfortunately.
