Spotify takes the cake when it comes to the number of paid subscribers. While Apple Music and other competitors have been aiming high at this point, Spotify has been gradually increasing the pace to gather in as much traction as possible. Now, the music streaming giant has reached yet another milestone. The company has officially announced that it now has 50 million paid subscribers. Let’s dive in to see some more details on the subject.

Spotify Reached 50 Million Paid Subscriber Mark

The announcement was made via the company’s Twitter account. Not that it’s because of the recent milestone that Spotify has gained the top position in the industry, but the numbers on its own are impressive. Apple Music has been gaining ample popularity as well, with its number of paid subscribers rapidly increasing. However as of yet, Apple Music is no where close to the number of paid subscribers that the music streaming giant has on its disposal.

Back in September of last year, Spotify confirmed that it has secured 40 million paid subscribers. Now, over a course of six months, the company has managed to squeeze in another 10 million subscribers. The number is huge and they seem to be growing at a steady base.

Compared to Spotify, Apple also announced the number of its paid subscribers back in December of last year.  The company said that it had reached 20 million subscribers. Even though the number of subscribers that Apple Music are less than half of what Spotify has reached, we do have to take into account that Apple was a latecomer in the industry. Henceforth, it  can be said that the Cupertino giant is headed in the right direction.

It’s good to see that music streaming giant is continuing to cement its place at the top when it come to the category. In addition to this, if we add the number of users who are streaming for free, the number would jump to a massive 100 million customers, even more. Apple Music still has a long way to go even though it has achieved a hefty number of subscribers. Tidal on the other hand is lacking far behind both of them with a reported 1.1  million subscribers as of October of last year.

The rivalry continues and the number of subscribers grow. As for now, what are your thoughts on Spotify’s milestone of 50 million paid subscribers? Do you prefer Apple Music over Spotify? Share your thoughts in the comments.
