If you are a fan of YouTube Premium, we have some bad news for you as the company has increased the price of its premium subscription. The new plans are finally live, and you can check them out at youtube.com/premium. This might come as a surprise to many people, but this is something that most companies have been doing for some time.

YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium are now more expensive than before, but you shouldn't worry about it too much

So, how much are you expected to pay? Well, the annual YouTube Premium plan is now going to run you $139.99. Previously, it was $119.99. That is a $20 increase. However, savings are still available because if you decide to go for a monthly plan instead, you will end up paying $27 extra, which would make very little sense, making the yearly plan a lot more attractive.

There is still some good news because the monthly family plan for YouTube Premium is still going to run you $22.99. But if you are a student, you are expected to pay a dollar more because the new plan is going to cost you $7.99 per month. The slight increase might disappoint some, but I believe it is absolutely worth it, especially if you are looking for something cheaper.

There is also some bad news for YouTube Music Premium users as the price for that has increased as well. Thankfully, the increase is not drastic, so you will only have to pay $1.00 more as the price has gone to $10.99 a month from $9.99.

Honestly, this increase in prices might disappoint some YouTube Premium users, but this should not come as a surprise. Companies need to survive in order to provide the services that users enjoy regularly, and considering how the world is going through an economic downturn, a lot of things are getting more and more expensive. Compared to everything else, the price increase that the platform is going through is still not half as bad as one might think, especially when considering it in the longer term.

How do you feel about YouTube increasing the price of its premium plan? Let us know what your thoughts are in the comments below. The plan is finally effective immediately in the U.S., but we are not sure if we are going to see the price increase in other regions. However, if that does happen, we'll keep you posted.
