Xbox Head Would “Like To Find The Time” To Get Original Xbox Titles Backwards Compatible; Likes Current Progress On BC

Microsoft’s head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has taken to Twitter to answer some questions from the community regarding the backwards compatibility feature on the Xbox One.

Microsoft announced the feature during their E3 conference last year, and each month new Xbox 360 titles have been added to the library of backwards compatible games.

This fall, we’re launching Xbox One Backward Compatibility so you can play select Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. Best of all, Xbox One Backward Compatibility will be available at no additional charge, so you won’t have to pay to play games you already own. Not only is backward compatibility one of the most-requested fan features, it’s also part of our vision to provide the biggest and best games catalog without limits, so you can get more out of the investment you’ve made in your game collection, and your games library is not limited to just one device.

Earlier this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops was made available for the Xbox One, and sales for the game exploded afterwards.

Spencer: I like the current backwards compatibility progress & would like to find the time to bring original Xbox titles as well

The game’s sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, is one title that the Xbox community would love to see on Xbox One as well, and Spencer was asked whether it will ever be made backwards compatible. Spencer replied that getting third party titles such as Black Ops 2 is always a partnership with its publisher, but he would like to have the game on Xbox One as well. The Xbox head added that he likes the current backwards compatibility progress.

Spencer was also asked about making games for the original Xbox backwards compatible with the Xbox One. According to Spencer, it hasn’t being ruled out but the team isn’t working on the feature for the moment. However, he would like to “find the time” to make it happen.

Are you enjoying the Xbox One’s BC feature? Would you like to see games from the original Xbox appear on the Xbox One as well?
