Port and remaster specialist studio Virtuos, the team that most recently supported Bethesda and Konami on delivering The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, respectively, is ready for another challenge. Specifically, after Virtuos brought LA Noire to the Nintendo Switch back in 2017, it wants to tackle bringing two more Rockstar classics to the hybrid console: GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

In an interview with Pocket Tactics, technical director at Virtuos, Andy Fong, said that the "team is eager to adapt Grand Theft Auto V and Rede Dead Redemption 2 for the Nintendo Switch. We're personally big fans and believe these games can shine again on the Switch, delighting even more players."

Both seem like two impossible ports, considering they're both massive open-world games, each with deep systems and mechanics and major graphical requirements, but the Nintendo Switch has been known to have one or two ports that were previously considered impossible. It's also worth considering that both games are technically last-gen titles, and a port specialist like Virtuos has a solid chance of figuring out how to bring both games to the portable console that is nearing its 10th anniversary.

Especially with how bullish the team has been in the past about its porting capabilities, since it once boasted it could bring 'any game' to the Nintendo Switch. Porting both GTA V and RDR2 to the Nintendo Switch would definitely back up that claim.

As cool as it would be to see it be done, though, it's worth considering who would really want to play either game on the Nintendo Switch instead of the Nintendo Switch 2. There's also the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 has still, somehow, been left without a proper 60 FPS patch for current-gen consoles. We've had reports and rumours that one is coming, but nothing has materialized.

Of course, there are surely some players among the 155M+ who own a Nintendo Switch who haven't experienced either GTA V or RDR2 (or both) yet and would be more than happy to play two of the best games released in the last two decades on their handheld console. After all, Red Dead Redemption and a slew of GTA games are already available on the platform. Why not add the two biggest games in either series (so far) to round things out?
