Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is one of the two new Tomb Raider titles that developer Crystal Dynamics announced during The Game Awards 2025. It's the one that is a full remake of the very first Tomb Raider game, and the one that'll have "completely rebuilt" combat and exploration systems, according to its game director.
It was initially set to arrive at some point in 2026, but that may no longer be the case, as leaker RaidersSociety on X (formerly Twitter) claims that the game has been delayed into 2027 (contrary to what development studio Electric Square says), and will now launch at some point in February of next year.
Of course, it's worth pointing out that, like any other rumor, you should take it with a grain of salt. What makes it worth noting is the fact that this specific leaker has, in the past, accurately reported information about Tomb Raider prior to public reveal.
What also makes it worth noting is a separate factor that has nothing to do with RaidersSociety. It's the fact that this comes shortly after Crystal Dynamics' fourth layoff in the last twelve months. The studio maintains that it is "fully committed" to the development of both its Tomb Raider titles, but being committed doesn't mean refusing to delay them.
Again, take this rumor with a grain of salt, but it would arguably be the least-surprising thing for Crystal Dynamics to confirm that the game has been delayed out of 2026 after four layoffs in the last twelve months. Especially considering the fact that game delays are not just extremely common, but largely accepted as a potential part of development, whether the game is coming from a small team or a major triple-A developer.
That said, it would be unfortunate for Legacy of Atlantis to miss out on arriving this year, if only because it would miss the chance to arrive during the 30th anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise, which launched all the way back in 1996.
