The Last of Us Part I

Very quickly after AMD released FSR 3's source code, a The Last of Us Part I FSR3 mod was released, bringing massive performance improvements in the PC version of the first entry in the popular series by Naughty Dog.

The mod, which is only available for modder LukeFZ's Patreon subscribers for now, can bring a 60- 70% performance boost, as shown in the video below shared by Macer. On a system powered by an AMD Ryzen 7700 CPU and RX 7700 XT GPU, at 1440p resolution, the game runs at 50 plus FPS more than with FSR 2 Quality. Similar performance boosts are seen in the Dead Space remake running with another recently released FSR 3 mod.

GeForce RTX 40 users are able to enjoy similar performance boosts thanks to PureDark's NVIDIA DLSS 3 mod released in late May.

The Last of Us Part I was launched on PC earlier this year following its debut on PlayStation 5 in late 2022. While the remake did not really update the original game's core mechanics, its reworked combat encounters and enhanced visuals make it the best way to experience one of the greatest games ever released, as highlighted by Kai in his review.

The Last of Us Part I is a testament to how timeless this Cormac McCarthy-inspired tale is. Fully remade for Sony’s latest console generation, if this is the first chance a player has to experience the post-outbreak tale, it’s without a doubt the best version to play. Both visual and mechanical enhancements bring this title to life as no other Naughty Dog game has done before. However, the omission of the multiplayer component is lamented by fans of the original that cannot be overlooked for keeping The Last of Us Part I from being a perfect gaming experience.
