NACON, the French video game developer, showcased a small teaser titled ‘Terminator Survival Project’ last year, but with Terminator: Survivors officially going on pre-order on Amazon for the PS5, it is clear what the upcoming game’s official name will be. Unlike other titles developed under the Terminator franchise, this one will be an open-world survivor and is expected to bring a brand new immersive flavor to the table.
Owners of Sony’s PS5 will be given the first opportunity to pre-order the upcoming game on Amazon for $59.99, but they have to wait a considerable period because the ‘item’ is slated to be released on December 31, 2025. While the gameplay elements have not been properly detailed, the description below reveals that there will be co-op elements in Terminator: Survivors.
“Solo or in co-op, play as a group of survivors in this survival open world return to the iconic Terminator universe set in the aftermath of Judgment Day. It’s been four years since the day humanity nearly perished. The truth of the event is still muddied in half-truths as you emerge from a shelter to attempt and re-establish some semblance of society in a world that seems hell-bent on eliminating you and the last vestiges of mankind.
You are tasked with scouring the surrounding land for materials, information, other survivors, and key resources in order to establish a base of operations for your fledgling group. But you’re not alone. Skynet’s machines are hunting you. They don’t feel anything. They never stop. Ever. Until they completed their mission: eradication of all humanity. Alone or within a group of up to four, lead humanity’s rise from the ashes and unravel the truth behind the bombs, Skynet and the Terminator threat.”
After playing Terminator: Resistance that launched in 2019, we were pleasantly surprised with the experience, and even though there was a ton of polishing that could have been done prior to the game’s release, it helped prepare us for the next installment. Having a ‘survivor’ element makes a ton of sense in the game, especially when humans are being stalked by a group of menacing T-800 units specifically designed to eliminate any and all traces of humanity.
We have reported that Terminator: Survivors will be listed as an early access title on Steam on October 24 this year, so it is not like PS5 owners will be given preferential treatment. Here is fingers crossed for this game to be a memorable title.
