One of the biggest surprises during today's State of Play was the reveal of Stuntman: Hollywood, a new entry in the stunt racing franchise from Saber Interactive that'll feature big-name movies like Fast & Furious and Back to the Future.

The arcade racer brings the series back since its last entry all the way back in 2007, making it the first Stuntman game in very nearly two decades. Though, since we didn't get a release date for it, by the time it arrives it could very well be exactly two decades to the day since we last saw a new Stuntman game hit store shelves.

"Take on iconic stunts inspired by fan-favorite Universal Pictures films and NBCUniversal TV shows like Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and Death Race," the game's accompanying PlayStation Blog post reads. "The entire game is built around movie shoots, where you perform stunts in all kinds of vehicles including legends like the Time Machine and KITT along with many other cars, SUVs, motorcycles, and even a school bus."

Stuntman may not be the franchise you'd expect to make a comeback in 2026, but when you take a moment to think about it, you can easily see how it could work in today's landscape of video games and movies becoming more intertwined with all of the adaptions we're getting.

Basically, it's easy to see collaborations between different film companies and Saber Interactive to add in scenes from popular movies either ones coming up or ones past that are just levels where you get to recreate some incredibly iconic moments. It's the kind of thing that could continue for years in the same way games like Dead by Daylight have existed for years, largely with the help of major collaborations with famous film franchises.

Whatever it is, it'll be interesting to see the full picture whenever Stuntman: Hollywood arrives on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
