[Update - April 22, 5:26 AM] Other users and insiders have now commented on Tifa coming to Street Fighter 6 in the future. Known FGC YouTuber Rooflemonger (who also suggested that Injustice 3 will be more of a DC fighter than a continuation of the series) commented that they have known about Tifa and Vega coming to the game for some time, but are unsure about Gouken and Haggar. ResetERA user LeytonWright, who supposedly has some connections at Square Enix, also said that the Final Fantasy VII character is indeed coming to the CAPCOM fighting game.

Original story follows.

[Original Story] With Ingrid coming soon to Street Fighter 6 as the final Year 3 character, many have started to wonder who will be part of the game's Year 4 roster. While CAPCOM has yet to say anything on the matter, a reliable source who correctly revealed the Year 2 characters (including the unexpected arrival of Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui) before the official announcements provided the alleged list of new characters, which includes Final Fantasy VII's Tifa Lockhart, among others.

Commenting last month on the Street Fighter official subreddit, user RnK_Clan revealed that Vega will be among the Year 4 characters, alongside Final Fight's Haggar, Gouken, and Tifa. (UPDATE: the post has been removed after this story went live.)

These would be very interesting choices, although the only one that would feel a little out of place would be the Final Fantasy VII heroine, as the Street Fighter and Final Fight series take place in the same universe, and plenty of characters from the side-scrolling beat'em up franchise appeared in previous games such as Cody, Guy, Sodom, Hugo and Poison.

While we have to take this revelation with a grain of salt despite the leaker's track record, Tifa's inclusion in Street Fighter 6 wouldn't be completely out of place, and not only because of her fighting style, which, in my opinion, would lend itself perfectly for a rekka-based style like Jamie's. Not only Tifa's launch could coincide with Final Fantasy VII's 30th anniversary next year (and maybe with the launch of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3), but it would also mark the character's return to the fighting games genre following her debut in Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring, a 3D fighting game developed by DreamFactory and published by Namco back in 1998. The game notably also featured Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Yuffie Kisaragi, Vincent Valentine, and Zack Fair.

No matter which character will be coming to Street Fighter 6 in its fourth season, there's no doubt the game will continue to be among the most played fighting games still getting supported. With the movie based on the series launching on October 16, 2026, the sixth entry in the series, and one of the very best in my opinion, is set to become even more popular.
