After reports of the 24GB Arc Battlemage GPU being in the works emerged, SPARKLE is now debunking such claims.
SPARKLE Retracts on Preparing a 24 GB Arc Battlemage GPU, Which it Initially Confirmed in a Thread; Pulls Back the Statement Later
Previously, there were a few rumors which suggested that Intel could be working on a 24 GB Arc Battlemage GPU, and we reported about it several months back. The 24 GB Battlemage edition was supposedly for the professional segment and not for the gaming market as was indicated in the reports previously.
Of course, the Arc B580, which ships with 12 GB VRAM, won't be very beneficial with twice the VRAM capacity, and therefore, the 24 GB card is more suitable for intensive tasks such as AI workloads. SPARKLE, which is one of Intel's board partners, confirmed last month on a Bilibili thread that it is indeed working on a 24 GB edition as well.
However, when the comment went viral, SPARKLE retracted its comment and issued a statement that negated the existence of such a GPU. Surprisingly, at the time of writing, SPARKLE had pulled back the page on Bilibili, but we have taken a screenshot so you can see what it said regarding such rumors.
It appears that there is some miscommunication going on behind the scenes. On the one hand, SPARKLE confirms the existence of such a GPU and, on the other hand, it issues a statement that debunks its own report. From what we can speculate from SPARKLE's retraction and deleting the official refuting statement, it is that SPARKLE 'might' be working on such a GPU but as it broke the NDA, it got a little too late to control the damage.
At the moment, Intel hasn't commented on this matter and has never officially announced a 24 GB Battlemage edition. SPARKLE's official handle is the first one to officially confirm this, although it is now refuting such claims. Nonetheless, the possibility of seeing a 24 GB Battlemage GPU is likely there and, as per the previous reports, one could see the Arc Battlemage Pro 24 GB GPU in late May or June.
This GPU will likely be able to play games as well, but will be more suitable for affordable professional workstations. Not much has been revealed regarding its specifications, but it's likely going to be similar to the Arc B580, and will utilize the same BMG-G21 GPU chip.
