User Confirms Intel Arc Pro B70 Can Play Crimson Desert, But The Artifacts Are Irksome

An Intel Arc Pro B70 graphics card is placed on a rock in a fantasy landscape, with a warrior in the foreground approaching a treehouse built within an enormous tree creature.

It's good to see even workstation Intel Arc GPUs being able to play Crimson Desert, but the game shows some weird behavior.

Crimson Desert Now Supports Intel Arc Pro B70 Workstation GPU, But Shimmering Ruins the Experience Except on Ultra Settings

After nearly three weeks of launch, the latest Pearl Abyss title Crimson Desert received support for Intel Arc GPUs. The official notes for the latest game patch revealed that the game should now run on Intel Arc discrete and integrated graphics cards, and should also bring the XeSS 3 and Frame Generation support. Since Arc GPUs are categorized into two variants: Consumer and Workstation, it's expected that the Intel Arc Pro GPUs should also work.

This is what has been confirmed by the YouTuber Tech Guy Beau, who has tried running the game on the recently launched Arc Pro B70 GPU. Arc Pro B70 is the flagship Battlemage workstation card aka The Big Battlemage. The GPU hosts the BMG-G31 die, which isn't present on any of the consumer Arc SKU at the moment. The YouTuber ran the game on the Pro B70 successfully, and we can see that the GPU delivers around 70-80 FPS on average with 1% lows in 60s.

However, there seems to be some kind of bug that is resulting in a lot of shimmering in the game when it is run on anything other than Ultra presets. When he tried running the game on Medium or High graphical presets, the game showed a lot of artifacts, but when switched to Ultra, the artifacts are absent. This is a weird behavior, which should be fixed in one of the next game updates. We have similar problems on consumer Arc GPUs as well as the support is still in the initial stage.

With regular patches, the performance and optimizations should mitigate such issues. One more thing that is currently working incorrectly is XeSS 3.0, while FSR 3.1 is delivering decent visual quality as per the YouTuber. Even though the Intel upscaler is boosting FPS slightly, it is "detexturing" some assets. XeSS 3.0 should deliver superior visual quality, but Pearl Abyss will need to optimize the game even further to ensure proper operation.
