Looking back at the history of survival horror, few games loom larger than Silent Hill 2, and so, as you’d expect, there’s been a lot of anticipation, speculation, and concern about the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake. Can Bloober Team successfully deliver a modern version of Konami’s classic? It’s an open question and we’ve seen very little of the remake since it was first announced back in 2022.
Well, today during the most recent State of Play show, Sony and Konami gave us a revealing new peek at the Silent Hill 2 remake. The trailer shows James Sunderland making his way around Silent Hill, which is looking appropriately foggy and atmospheric. Interestingly, the trailer contains a surprising amount of action, which fairly intense and similar to rival series Resident Evil. It’s clear Bloober is taking some serious steps to modernize Silent Hill 2. You can check out the new Silent Hill 2 trailer for yourself, below.
But that’s not all the Silent Hill news! The long-rumored Silent Hill: The Short Message, a new original free-to-play short game/proof of concept has officially been confirmed and it releases… today! The first-person game stars a new female character, and it seems a core gimmick will be that her smartphone will be visible on screen at most times and will likely serve various gameplay purposes.
