Samsung is gearing up for its next product launches, and the focus seems to be on its foldable category, as the tech giant seems to be promising some major upgrades this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 did not live up to the expectations of the users, and many were left feeling dismayed by the lack of innovation. This year, the company has some significant improvements in the pipeline, and the tech community seems to be eagerly waiting for them. While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to sport a thinner profile, a leaker now claims that it might end up being the thinnest foldable yet.
A leaker now claims that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 might be even thinner than expected
Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are expected to be unveiled at the Unpacked event in July. With the release date right around the corner, the rumor mill seems to be churning in full swing about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. Earlier reports suggested that the device would be between 9mm and 9.5mm when closed and around 4.5mm when opened. A new leak now suggests that we might see even a slimmer overall profile than expected.
A recent leak then started suggesting that Samsung's foldable phone might be only 8.4mm thick when closed, which seemed to go against physics and seemed like a less reliable source of information. Now, the latest report comes from a renowned tipster, Ice Universe, who claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would measure 3.9mm when open and 8.9mm when closed. The current world record for the thinnest foldable is held by Oppo Find N5, which is 8.93mm thick when closed.
According to some exclusive information, the next direction of Samsung flagship machine is still to be thin and light, and the battery will be thin and thin, and the body will continue to be thin. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will be the thinnest folding machine in the world at that time,… pic.twitter.com/uAs3NzAf8j

If these measurements stand true, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be the thinnest foldable yet, beating Oppo and taking over as the record holder. While we cannot be certain if the leak would stand true to its claims, it does appear to be more realistic than some of the previous speculations. The leaker generally is a credible source, but until things are officially confirmed, all the information should be taken with a grain of salt.
Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy Z Fold 7 at the Unpacked event in July 2025. This seems to align with the company's previous launch timeline for the foldable category. The foldable is expected to sport a slimmer profile, be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and have a 200MP primary camera. More details will emerge as the launch date approaches.
