The second Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled to be held in July, with Samsung expected to showcase its Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup. However, a surprise that probably no one was prepared for was that the Korean giant’s first tri-fold smartphone, which a previous rumor claims will officially be called the Galaxy G Fold, could appear at the event. However, do not be surprised that the company will not officially kick off pre-orders because the release is slated to happen much later.
The actual release of Samsung’s tri-fold smartphone is rumored to happen in October
A series of rumors mentioned that the Galaxy G Fold would be shown to the audience in the form of a small teaser at Galaxy Unpacked to pique their interest in what Samsung’s next jump is in the foldable smartphone space. However, those claims were shut down, and for good reason, because if the tri-fold handset appeared during the event, it would remove the much-needed eyeballs from the rest of the lineup. However, Weibo tipster Setsuna Digital believes otherwise, mentioning that the device will be unveiled during the rest of the announcements.
However, the actual launch of the Galaxy G Fold is scheduled to happen in October, with Samsung likely opening up pre-orders for it a week or two before the smartphone’s official rollout. Unfortunately, do not expect the device to be available in droves because the company was previously rumored to limit its tri-fold flagship to just two markets, South Korea and China, hinting that the Galaxy G Fold will be available in minimal quantities and will likely fetch a ridiculously high price.
Even if consumers living in the aforementioned regions managed to undertake a purchase, they will probably find that Samsung gimped some of the features, such as the Galaxy G Fold being capped at just 25W of wired charging, at least according to the 3C Certification database. Samsung may also keep the majority of the specification details surrounding the tri-fold smartphone under wraps, so we will have to rely on our eagle eyes and search for a bevy of leaks to provide updated information to our readers.
