Samsung finally started rolling out the much-awaited One UI 7 globally on April 7th, 2025. The Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6 were the first ones to get the update, which was to extend to other devices and regions in the following weeks. The update based on Android 15 was meant to offer a major overhaul of the user interface and add more customization options with AI-powered features.
However, the rollout saw a delay due to the company's commitment to delivering a compelling user experience and also due to technical challenges. Users were delighted to hear that the One UI 7 rollout was finally happening, but Samsung has now put the update on hold after users experienced some serious bugs.
After six beta releases, Samsung has now put the One UI 7 global rollout on pause amidst some critical bugs
Samsung users were exuberant when the company finally started rolling out One UI 7 based on Android 15 this April after six beta versions and quite a lot of delay. However, the happiness seems to have been short-lived, as merely days into the release, the tech giant put a halt to the global rollout to deal with a serious bug.
This situation was spotted by a renowned Tipster, Ice Universe, who shared that a critical bug has mostly affected the Galaxy S24 series in Korea. The users of Galaxy S24 phones were reporting being locked out of their phones after the update. Samsung intended to expand to more devices and regions in the coming weeks, but that has been put on hold.
Sudden!
After the Korean Galaxy S24 series firmware was pushed, a serious bug was found, which led to the suspension of the push plan in all other countries, including China.— I'm back! (@UniverseIce) April 14, 2025
As per discussions on Samsung's Korean forums via Android Authority, the issue seems to be specifically linked to Galaxy S24 models that are powered by the Exynos 2400 chip, and the lock screen failure is suspected to be tied to the Exynos variant. For now, Samsung has removed the OTA update files completely from its servers, and it could be that the issue is more widespread than thought to be. The tech giant is taking the resolution seriously by acting promptly and not relying on just a security patch to resolve it.
Samsung has not publicly acknowledged the issue or given an official statement on the pause placed on the One UI 7 rollout. Until the South Korean tech giant gives a statement on the ongoing issue or rolls out a revised build, users will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the latest update, especially the ones with the Exynos-powered S24 devices.
