As part of the ongoing Epic Games Store Mega Sale, Epic bumped their standing offer of a free game once every two weeks to a free game once a week.

The latest game to be part of the promotion is RiME, the excellent adventure/puzzle/platform game released by Spanish studio Tequila Works about two years ago. Back then Francesco scored the game 9 out of 10, adding the following summary to his review:

After such a long and troubled development, many feared that RiME would be a failure, but Tequila Works proved that there can be light at the end of the tunnel. With peculiar storytelling, varied puzzles, well-crafted platforming elements and gorgeous presentation, RiME can rival with the unique beauty of Team ICO's games.

In case you've missed this indie masterpiece, this is the perfect chance to play it. A while ago the developers also commented on the likelihood of a sequel, which would have to be more like a spiritual successor but isn't in the cards just yet.

By the way, Epic also announced the next free game due to be available on the store. It's City of Brass, the Arabian Nights-inspired first-person rogue-lite game launched in May 2018, and it will be up for grabs on the Epic Games Store from May 30th (which is when RiME's offer expires) to June 6th.
