NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series - GeForce RTX 5070 Ti

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 is based on the GB205-300-A1 silicon die, featuring a total of 6144 CUDA cores. The card will be equipped with 192 Tensor Cores, 48 RT cores, and 80 ROPS. It also retains the full ROP count, unlike the rest of the models which had a production defect leading to one ROP unit being disabled. The GPU will also pack 48 MB of L2 cache and a total of 31.1 billion transistors within a die that measures 263mm2.

The VRAM capacity remains the same for the GeForce RTX 5070 at 12 GB on a 192-bit bus except for faster GDDR7 memory. The GPU boost clock for the RTX 5070 is 2512 MHz, which is slightly higher than the 2475 MHz on the RTX 4070. The RTX 5070 will have a rated TDP of 250W, which is 30W higher than the RTX 4070 and 50W higher than the RTX 3070. The MSRP of the card is set at $549 US.

According to NVIDIA themselves, the GeForce RTX 5070 offers:

  • Built for next-generation gaming with neural rendering. RTX is the most advanced platform with the highest performance for full ray tracing and AI.
  • Up to 1.9x perf jump and 3D rendering performance with DLSS 4 MFG over the RTX 4070, and 20% more traditional raster performance.
  • DLSS 4 features now supported in over 75 games - the best image quality with our DLSS SR/RR Transformer model and more performance with support for Multi Frame Generation in great settings in titles like Avowed, Kingdom Come Deliverance II, Red Dead Redemption II and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
  • A perfect upgrade for GeForce RTX 3070 users, with over 3x increase with DLSS 4 and 65% more traditional raster performance.
  • 3x faster GenAI performance vs. RTX 4070 with Blackwell support for FP4
  • Export professional grade 4:2:2 video 6x faster on RTX 5070 vs. RTX 4070 with dedicated hardware accelerated 4:2:2 support (NVENC)

For the GeForce RTX 5070, NVIDIA claims a 20% performance uplift in the same native RT (Non-DLSS) gaming scenarios versus the RTX 4070. Without MFG (Multi-Frame-Gen), the card isn't any where close to the RTX 4090 in rasterization or ray tracing performance. Only with 4x MGF mode, the RTX 5070 is about as fast as the RTX 4090, so keep that in mind when going by NVIDIA's official performance figures.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 competes against the AMD Radeon RX 9070 at the same price point, so it will be quite a heated battle between the two rivals in this price segment.
