$999 US+Conclusion - Powerful Cooling With Lots of RGB On Display
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER launches at $999 US, offering enthusiast-grade performance at all resolutions including 4K.
4K 60+ FPS Across All AAA Titles
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is a very powerful GPU. We can say the same about the RTX 4080 Non-SUPER as both cards perform very similarly to each other and deliver top-notch graphics performance in games. If you are pushing for 4K 60+ FPS, then the RTX 4080 SUPER is more than enough in rasterized titles as you can get over 100 FPS with ease in pretty much all games. As for the competition, the RX 7900 XTX is a strong contender in rasterized gaming since it also comes at the same MSRP of $999 US and we see a tie between the RTX 4080 SUPER and RX 7900 XTX in non-RT game suite.
However, if anyone is paying $1000 US for a graphics card, they should expect top performance with top-notch quality and that's where NVIDIA's 4080 SUPER shines.
Enthusiast Ray-Tracing At An Even Better Price
There's no doubt that 2024 is going to be another great year for ray traced games and NVIDIA has already proven with its third-generation RT architecture that it is the king of the hill. As expected, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER dominates the ray-tracing charts, leading over the RX 7900 XTX in all of the titles we tested. The GPU is superb for the performance at the offer and is more future-proof considering that ray-tracing is now the standard for graphics fidelity. The card also offers a great performance bump in path-traced titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 over the Non-SUPER variants when running DLSS 3.5.
Ray tracing has come a long way, from the time that 30-60 FPS were the target to the now 60/100 FPS+ frame rates that can be achieved using AI upscaling technologies such as DLSS 3. The NVIDIA RTX 4080 SUPER leads the way, delivering some fantastic performance in ray-traced titles, letting you enjoy true next-gen visuals at 4K with upscaling technologies plus Frame-Gen.
Efficiency Stays Strong
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER retains the high-end Ada Lovelace efficiency with an average gaming power draw of under 300W which is superb. Only certain synthetic workloads or ray-traced heavy games were able to push the GPU past the 300W barrier and even then the GPU didn't hit its peak 320W limit.
GALAX SG Is Built Like A Tank
GALAX brings back its Serious Gaming series with the RTX 4080 SUPER which is as huge as ever with a mighty cooler that keeps the card running under 70C. This is a brutally fast card that is clocked at a 2640 MHz boost and has a very RGB-heavy look to match the gaming aesthetics. The GPU also comes with a power limit of 350W which allows you to manually tune and overclock the card for some more performance while the cooling solution is very quiet and is brilliant with its black design. Once again, this card is a huge monster so make sure you have good enough space to accommodate this beast.

Replacing The RTX 4080 With Better Performance at $200 US Less
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is a ferocious beast, it may not be as fast as the $1600 US RTX 4090 which currently costs around $2000 US but for $1000 US less, it's definitely a great option for enthusiasts and gamers who aim to game at 4K resolutions. The SUPER variant replaces the older RTX 4080 while bringing in better specifications such as 5% more cores, the world's fastest GDDR6X memory, higher clock speeds, and all of that at a lower price point. The previous Non-SUPER model had an MSRP of $1199 US while the SUPER variant starts at $999 US, an effective price drop of $200 US which effectively puts the pressure back on AMD's RX 7900 XTX.
The RTX 4080 SUPER leads in almost everything over the RX 7900 XTX. It has better ray tracing and path tracing capabilities, it has better AI hardware and compute, it has better efficiency, the GPUs run very cool (can vary from model to model), have great driver support and feature compatibility with the latest RTX features such as DLSS 3.5, VSR, Frame-Gen, etc. The RX 7900 XTX runs better in a few rasterized games but if you are paying $1000 US for a graphics card, you would expect your card to handle everything you throw at it like a breeze. The RTX 4080 SUPER ultimately does everything better.
