CAPCOM leaker Dusk Golem has shared some new information regarding Resident Evil 9 and another title in development at the Japanese publisher.

It's not the first time that Dusk Golem has talked about Resident Evil 9. He did it for the first time nearly two and a half years ago; back then, he told fans there was a moment (late 2018) when CAPCOM was simultaneously working on Resident Evil 2, 3, 4, 8, and 9. He also said 9 was extremely early in development and didn't see it released before 2024.

A few hours ago, Dusk Golem revealed new details on Resident Evil 9 via his Discord channel (via Reddit). According to the leaker, the new installment in CAPCOM's premiere survival horror franchise will be released in 2025, though the publisher will officially announce the game at some point next year.

He also revealed that CAPCOM is planning to unveil a new game at the end of this year for a release scheduled in Fall 2024. He could be referring to the next Monster Hunter title, although fans were hoping to see an announcement at the Tokyo Game Show, which isn't exactly set at the end of the year (it takes place between September 21st and 24th). If Dusk Golem is correct, they may have to wait until The Game Awards 2023, which will broadcast in December as usual.

According to other rumors, Resident Evil 9 may mark the end of the Winters saga, with Chris Redfield set to return as the game's protagonist. In the final DLC of Resident Evil Village (8), CAPCOM put players in the shoes of Rose Winters.

16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village, Rosemary Winters, Ethan’s beloved daughter, has grown up and is now struggling with terrifying powers. In search of a way to break free from her curse, Rose enters the consciousness of the Megamycete. Rose’s journey takes her to a mysterious realm where memories of the past return to create a warped and twisted world of nightmares.

Earlier this year, CAPCOM released the remake of Resident Evil 4, which had a great reception between reviews and sales (the publisher already confirmed more than four million units sold globally). A 'Separate Ways' DLC starring Ada Wong is believed to be coming not too far in the future, and CAPCOM is also working on a full virtual reality port that will be exclusive to PS VR2.
