Developer Stormind Games is returning to its Remothered series and has revealed Remothered: The Nun's Legacy at the Future Games Spring Showcase 2026. The third and seemingly final installment in the series is a game Stormind Games says it wanted to make "out of a strong sense of respect and responsibility toward Remothered and its community, who thought this project had been abandoned."
The first Remothered title, Remothered: Tormented Feathers, was the debut game for the Italian indie developer when it launched back in 2018. The last Remothered game was six years ago now with Remothered: Broken Porcelain, with Stormind Games making A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead and working as a co-development studio on Mafia: The Old Country in the meantime.
Fans of the first two games had begun to believe that Stormind had abandoned the series as it moved on to other projects and lost Chris Darril, the key creator behind the franchise. By the way, Darril has now announced legal action against the "erasure" of his name from the new game's credits.
Now, however, the series is back, with Stormind Games promising to offer fans of the series a conclusion to the trilogy that the series was always intended to be, while also stipulating that newcomers don't need to play through the first two games before jumping into the third.
"Remothered was the first game we developed at the very beginning of our journey and after our experiences with A Quiet Place and Mafia: The Old Country, we returned to the series because we couldn't accept seeing Remothered fade away," said Antonio Cannata, chief executive officer of Stormind Games. "We decided to make this game out of a strong sense of respect and responsibility toward Remothered and its community, who thought this project had been abandoned."
"Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy will dig deep into the story and present new special skills that expand the gameplay pillars of Remothered," added game director Antonio Cutrona. "While the game is a standalone experience that fans of old-school horror can dive right into and enjoy without playing the first two games in the series, it will offer the conclusion that long-time fans have been waiting years to play."
The conclusion to the horror trilogy will arrive on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases, though no release date or release window has been revealed at the time of this writing.
