Chris Darril, the original creator of the Remothered IP, finally broke the silence with a letter published yesterday on LinkedIn. Fans had asked him if he was involved in any capacity with the making of the freshly announced Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy; Darril had co-founded Stormind Games and was a Writer and Game Director until August 2021, but he has since moved on to create another independent studio, Little Sewing Machine, which released the narrative adventure game Bye Sweet Carole a few months ago.

Darril confirmed that he was not involved with the development of Red Nun's Legacy in any way. In fact, he wasn't even aware of it until recently. He wished all the best to Stormind and the game itself, but he also strongly criticized the lack of recognition for his work as the original IP creator in the new game's trailer, going so far as to announce legal action to rectify this shortcoming.

As you may know, Remothered is not just a "common" game to me: it is a piece of my heart, a project that began when I was 17 (almost 20 years ago), an IP I’ve nurtured from its very first sketches, the Red Nun, Rosemary Reed, the settings, the lore, the core of the IP to the international success of Remothered: Tormented Fathers.

I recently became aware of a third installment intended to close the original trilogy – which name is Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy. I want to officially confirm that I am not involved in this production. This was a difficult decision made back already in 2020 during the 2nd chapter production, at a time when, unfortunately, I was left with no other viable options. This allowed me to finally dedicate myself again to new projects in which I could truly and freely express myself, including the recent Bye Sweet Carole. That said, like a parent watching their child find their own path, even though we have taken different directions, I sincerely wish the best for this game, the franchise, and the team behind it.

However, there is a critical issue I must address: while there is much talk about honoring the "Red Nun’s Legacy," the actual creator of that legacy seems to have been forgotten. To date, my role as the author and IP creator has been entirely omitted from the reveal trailer, its credits, and official press release content – contravening what was agreed. This deliberate "erasure" of my name does more than just disregard the moral rights and the creative authorship; it feels like an attempt to distance the current production from the technical shortcomings of Broken Porcelain by implicitly shifting that responsibility onto someone else —especially given the lack of transparency surrounding this new chapter announcement. Because of this, I have instructed my legal team to take the necessary steps.

Hopefully, Chris Darril and Stormind can swiftly reach an agreement, ideally before the game's release, which is slated for later this year. While waiting for the third chapter, you can read our reviews of the first and second installments.
