PS3 Has Now Shipped More Than Xbox 360
When the PS3 launched back in 2006, nobody thought it would even be able to compete with the Xbox 360, with it's outrageous high price tag and the average launch library (although I think that Resistance: Fall Of Man was a great game). Seven years later, it seems that PS3 is a force to be reckoned with, thanks to the numerous price cuts, top notch exclusives and the excellent Blu-ray capabilities.
In December 2012, PS3 system shipments eclipsed the number of Xbox 360's shipped worldwide, despite the PS3 launching a year later than the Xbox 360 (an estimated 77 million bundles versus approximately 76 million bundles shipped) - International Data Corporation
And now the gap has been closed, and Sony's Playstation might be well ahead of Microsoft's Xbox 360, in a feat that no one would have believed possible back in 2006. And 2013 might be the year to decide the winner since Xbox has Gears of War: Judgement coming out and Playstation has The Last Of Us, Beyond: Two Souls and God Of War: Ascension in the first quarter of 2013.
Other things this report says is that the disc based gaming consoles are going nowhere in the near future, and that Wii U will indeed find a target audience and might ship 50 million consoles by the year-end of 2016, which isn't even near the 100 million mark the original Wii is floating around. But it all points to the fact that the next few years are a great time to be a gamer!
