Handheld Android consoles are not as common as Android smartphones, but that does not mean that they don't exist. As a matter of fact, we have seen a lot from both small and big companies, including the Logitech G Cloud, and while this space is rather small, we are still seeing companies come up with products that are getting better and better. Today, AYANEO has introduced Pocket AIR, the first handheld Android console from the company with some promising specs. It does look good on paper, and we have the specs right here for you.

AYANEO Pocket Air looks like an excellent handheld Android gaming console as long as it has a good library of games to offer

AYANEO introduced the Pocket AIR on Twitter, and based on the specs you are getting, it looks like it will be a pretty solid gaming console that can run almost all Android games you throw at it. This is going to be an excellent offering for anyone who just wants to play some casual games.

For those interested in the specs, the Pocket AIR runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 1200. You are getting a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen with a master controller, hall-sensing joystick, and hall triggers. You are also getting an x-axis linear motor and a massive 7,350 mAh battery. The console will be using a custom AYAHome launcher and an AYASpace app for managing the games and will be running on Android 12 out of the box.

Honestly, the Pocket AIR does look good, but again, it makes one wonder if there is any proper market for it in the first place. It all comes down to how much it is going to cost and the games it is going to offer. Android games, of course, are going to be there, but I would really like it if it could emulate some retro games from the PS1 and PS2 era, as well, and since it is running on Android, I am sure there is going to be some way to make that possible.

All of this looks incredible, but the biggest selling point for Pocket AIR is going to be the price because if it does end up costing a lot of money, then it will not be a viable option for anyone looking for some casual gaming because then it just defeats the purpose. Thankfully, you won't have to wait long because preorders are going live this month, and the console will be shipping next month.
