Phison already has one of the fastest Gen5 SSD controllers on the market, the E28, which launched last year, and the company also has the DRAM-Less E31T controller, which brings more affordability in a heat-sink-less design.

Today at CES, Phison introduced its latest Gen5 SSD controller, the E37T, which is aimed to be more cost-effective. As per Phison, the E37T Gen5 SSD features incremental changes to the core architecture, while supporting 3D NAND with up to 4800 MT/s speeds, providing a 38% performance gain on value-oriented platforms and a 4-channel design.

“As consumer applications demand greater storage capacity and sustained performance in small spaces, the E37T is designed to deliver power-efficient operation while pushing the Gen5 performance ceiling,” said Michael Wu, President & GM, Phison US. “With the next wave of platforms introducing PCIe Gen5 in smaller form factors, the E37T expands our portfolio with a versatile, high-value storage solution that brings faster, more responsive user experiences to a broad range of devices and use cases.”

The Phison E37T Gen5 SSD controller features speeds of up to 14.7 GB/s in Sequential Reads and 13.0 GB/s in Sequential Writes. It offers up to 2,000K 4KB random IOPs, and its ultra-low power operation means that it is an ideal choice for laptops, handhelds, and compact PC solutions such as Mini PCs. The controller will be featured on a range of SSDs in M.2 2280, 2242, and 2230 form factors.

As for power, Phison states that the E37T Gen5 SSD controller is rated at a power draw of under 2.3W. This makes it an ideal choice for the platforms mentioned above. Although no products have been announced yet, we expect to see the first SSDs with E37T pop up by Computex 2026.

In addition to this, Phison also announced that its E28 Gen5 SSD controller will now come in larger 8 TB capacities in flagship SSD products, offering up to 14.9 GB/s Read, 14.0 GB/s Write speeds, 2600K Read IOPS, and 3000K Write IOPS.
