OneXPlayer has unveiled its newest X1 Mini 3-in-1 console, featuring a compact "tablet-like" design and much more.

It has been one good year for OneXPlayer when it comes to handheld releases since the firm has been proactive when it comes to integrating new technology and architecture in their handheld releases, such as the OneXPlayer Pro 2, which features AMD's Hawk Point APUs. However, the company's latest release targets the compact segment, with the X1 Mini debuting with a new "smaller" design compared to its counterpart, the OneXPlayer X1. Apparently, OneXPlayer's previous 3-in-1 tablet idea wasn't popular, so the new variant has been trimmed down in size.
Moving onto the specifications, the OneXPlayer X1 Mini features AMD's Ryzen 7 8840U APU, which features 8 Zen 4 cores with 16 threads, 8 MB of L2 cache, and 16 MB of L3 cache. The chip is clocked at a base frequency of 3.3 GHz and boosts up to 5.1 GHz with a TDP that can be configured between 15-30W. The chip also comes with a Radeon 780M iGPU with 12 compute units clocked at 2.70 GHz. Hence, you can expect decent gaming performance out of the device.
Regarding display features, the OneXPlayer X1 Mini has a smaller 8.8-inch screen compared to its standard counterpart, with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Interestingly, the X1 Mini has a "swappable SSD" mechanism that allows users to swap drives out quickly through a dedicated slot, which is accessible without opening the device. The firm hasn't shown us details on this particular feature, but it looks interesting, considering it takes us back to the era when compact devices were run by UMDs, where all the gaming applications were stored.
The OneXPlayer X1 Mini comes with Harman-EFX tuned audio and detachable controllers for an optimal gaming experience. The device features a 65 Wh battery onboard, guaranteeing great battery life, although the firm didn't mention specific figures. For connectivity, the device is equipped with USB 4.0 ports and a dedicated OCulink port, which means that connecting external GPUs won't be a problem with this one.
The overall idea of a handheld-tablet hybrid design in a device is viable for a consumer looking for a mainstream gaming option with little side usage, and the OneXPlayer X1 series certainly is the best product in this segment for now. The firm hasn't listed details on launch schedules and pricing yet, but we expect them to surface soon, considering the device is already listed for crowdfunding on Indiegogo.
