The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to be officially announced in October, but an earlier rumor claimed that the chipset’s design would be finalized in April, meaning several Qualcomm partners would have a chance to examine and perform their testing of the SoC. One device being tweaked with the silicon is the OnePlus 13, with one tipster sharing a few specifications of the upcoming flagship in the latest rumor.
Unfortunately, the OnePlus 13 will not be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, as that exclusive right will likely be held by the Xiaomi 13
Though Xiaomi will probably be unveiling the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship later in the year, tipster Digital Chat Station has posted on Weibo that the OnePlus 13 is being tested with the same SoC, suggesting that it will come at a close second as far as launches go. While we will eventually learn about the premium smartphone’s complete specifications at some point, we have learned that the OnePlus 13 could feature a curved screen with a large 6.8-inch 2K display that supports LTPO OLED technology.
The screen size is the same as Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the addition of LTPO means that the handset can switch its refresh rate to 10Hz to save battery life when a static image is displayed. While the maximum refresh rate is not mentioned, OnePlus will likely retain the 120Hz limit since that is more than sufficient to deliver a buttery-smooth UI experience. A few camera details were also mentioned in the post, stating that the flagship will tout a periscope zoom lens.

It is clear that some of the impressive hardware belonging to the OnePlus 12 will make its way to the OnePlus 13, with the company improving upon these areas in one way or another. Currently, the OnePlus 12’s base version with 12GB RAM, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage is going for $799.99 on Amazon, making it one of the best ‘price to performance’ flagships at this time.
We hope that the OnePlus 13 can maintain the same competitive pricing as its predecessor. However, given that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to be more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the company may have a difficult decision to make concerning cost. Regardless, we will continue to update the specifications of this flagship, and during its official launch, we will learn how expensive it actually is, so stay tuned.
